WHY DO WE INCLUDE MINDFULNESS IN YOGA PRACTICE ?

Why it is so important to include mindfulness in our yoga practice

Nowadays we are so used to live yoga as a dynamic amazing practice to slim down and tone up as social media are all over this concept. Of course, yoga can be this but there is so much more to explore and experience besides the physical side of this journey. It´s important to understand there is no yoga if we are not present since yoga is present.

Today we are going to show you why you should take care of your body but of your mind too, setting a new intention to heal or mental balance and finding the perfect way to boost your self-expression with a calm, peaceful and positive approach. Let’s get started.

What is mindfulness?
Basically, mindfulness is a precious meditation technique that helps shift your thoughts away from your usual preoccupations toward an appreciation of the moment and a larger perspective on life.
With mindfulness, you will learn to be more present, more grounded, and to live the moment as gifts, without thinking about what happened earlier and what is going to happen next.

Our stressful daily life made up of crazy routines, endless to-do lists and impossible deadlines let us lose control in so many ways, focusing on things to do and goals to reach shutting our emotions down, turning them off to be a strong determined and unstoppable machine. Unfortunately, this attitude is going to strike back like a boomerang as your strong surface could easily fall apart like a domino effect once your body and mind can’t take it anymore. Having some mindfulness in your yoga practice may be the right and appropriate “me time” you really deserve to recharge your energies, resettle your intentions and finally find the time to listen to your soul, your inner voice away from your daily chaos.

Benefits of mindfulness
Mindfulness means “to pay attention in a particular way: intentionally, in the present moment and in a non-judgmental way”.
The Mindfulness method essentially consists of training two components that are closely interconnected:
The ability to direct attention to the whole experience of the present moment, both internal and external (self-regulation of attention);
The attitude with which it is done is characterized by openness, acceptance, and curiosity.

Mindfulness allows the development and enhancement of the quality of mindfulness or awareness, making people increasingly aware of their automatic thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations present, favoring a different relationship with their own mental contents: people are no longer in the nurse of their mental schemes but become able to consciously choose how to relate to their experiences.
Scientists have discovered the benefits of mindfulness techniques that help improve physical health in a number of ways.

Mindfulness can:-Help relieve stress-Treat heart disease
.
-Reduce chronic pain.
-Improve sleep.

Mindfulness improves mental health by dealing with:
-Depression.
-Substance abuse.
-Eating disorders.
-Couples’ conflicts,
-Anxiety disorders.
-Obsessive-compulsive disorder

How to include mindfulness in your yoga practice?
Mindfulness is so important to live both your life and your yoga journey in a proper way and focus your attention on how you really feel all over it.
Including mindfulness in your yoga practice will help you to explore your sensation, and your emotions and really learn how to nourish your body and spirit through asanas. Each posture you take will be considered not as something to perform but something to live, and really listening to your body and its reactions to each one of them.

This approach will make you feel more confident and more open to yourself and will lead you to a more grateful and caring relationship with your inner self. You will learn how to notice emotions, how to accept them and let them go away, create your own positive mindset able to blackout your negativity, tensions, and worries even during your yoga practice, and embrace how you are facing them, nourishing your soul.

Mindfulness is a tool that you can learn on your mat but you can easily integrate off the mat into your daily life too. Once you open your mind and your spirit to this you will be ready to live a better, happier, and more relaxed life.
